US Forces Targeted a 'Major Complex' in Venezuela, President Trump Asserted Lacking Providing Details.

Former President Donald Trump has asserted that American forces targeted a "major plant" in the South American country in recent days. However, the ex-leader did not specify the precise nature or site of the target, and there has been no further clarification from his camp.

Vague Comments Offered During a Radio Show

"US forces just knocked out – I'm not sure if you heard – they have a major complex, where the vessels originate. Two nights ago, we took it out. So we targeted them with significant force," Trump allegedly said to Republican donor and businessman John Catsimatidis on Friday.

Potential Significance of a Verified Strike

Should a US military action were to be confirmed, it would represent the initial land strike since the US Department of Defense began a buildup of US strike forces in the Caribbean region to halt narco-trafficking operations that the former administration alleges operate under the direction of Venezuelan leader Nicolás Maduro.

The original mission of the force deployment has since morphed into a blockade aimed at stopping the nation's crude oil shipments.

Online Footage and Administration Claims

Trump has for weeks stated that American military units are prepared to expand the operations by striking objectives within Venezuela, a move that would theoretically require congressional approval.

Online video posted online on 24 December purportedly showed an blast allegedly from an industrial zone in a Venezuelan state. Yet, the video or the site in question has not been corroborated.

An official from Trump's team allegedly told a news network that the president was referring to a drug facility in his remarks.

Response and Ongoing Military Posture

The Caracas administration has remained silent on the alleged strike Trump described. Furthermore, there have been no verified accounts from within the country concerning it.

The deployment of US military in the region – a position some have referred to as a naval quarantine – represents the broadest naval operation of Trump's presidency.

Administration officials have stopped short from describing the action as a full blockade, but have confirmed that about 15,000 service members are stationed across the Caribbean Sea and the Gulf, including a aircraft carrier group, advanced fighter jets, and law enforcement vessels to implement current economic sanctions.
